How to know if you are living a life of purpose

You hear it all the time, “Live a life of purpose”, “Live on purpose” but what exactly does it mean to live a life of purpose? And how do you know if you are actually living a life of purpose?

I remember when I graduated college and I got a job working in marketing for an entertainment company. I loved gaining all the knowledge I was receiving but I felt like there was something missing. I was good at my job but I knew deep down in my heart that there were other things in life that I was more passionate about. And I couldn’t ignore the voice in my head. The fact that I couldn’t ignore that little voice even though I tried to for years was one of the signs that let me know I was not living a life of purpose. I felt like what I was doing was temporary until I could truly do what I loved. I kept taking personality and career tests over and over again because I felt lost and wanted to make sure that whatever career I chose made me money. But more money did not mean more meaning. I realized that a life without purpose or passion was no life at all. I took those tests because I felt I couldn’t pursue my life’s passions without being broke and upholding this standard that my parents and society said I had to uphold. I wanted to sing, act, and empower. I wasn’t sure how I would do all 3, and luckily God revealed it to me later and is still doing so. In this blog post I want to give you 3 distinct ways to know if you are living a life of purpose.

1) Does it excite you? – Ask yourself if what you are doing in life; whether it be a job, or hobbies, actually excites you? Do you feel content when you are doing these things? Do you feel a level of curiosity, and satisfaction while doing these things? Do you crave more?

2) It will be Bigger than you: When you are living a life of purpose it is not just about you. Service to others is the foundation of a mindful and meaningful life and existence. I started Self-Love Empowers because I wanted to help other women love themselves and realize their worth. I wanted other women and girls to not go through what I had to go through to get to this point. I wanted to serve them. It is not just about me, but it is about them. When I get a message in my inbox or email saying that my business is helping someone realize their worth and live a happier and more purpose filled life it excites me. When you are living in purpose it is not simply for your gain it is for others.

3) Your life will be in alignment with God’s plan for your life. A purpose is a master plan for your life, and God is the author. When you are walking with God and following the path that he has for your life, you will know. Doors will open, you will be exited, you will serve others, and you will feel satisfied in knowing that you are doing what God has called you to do. It will feel right in your heart and soul. It may even scare you because you may think you are not ready, and it will require you to step outside your comfort zone, but it will be worth it.

Proverbs: 3:6 – “In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”

Isaiah 30:21 – “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”
